Phoenix Wrigh: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations case 2

New organization technique I wish I'd thought of before.  I might eventually redo the first two games this way (including rom screenshots, as those tend to look better than camera ones, unless I somehow end up with an amazing camera), but that's going to be a while, and hopefully on a different site.  If I had a SomethingAwful account, I would LP the series there, but because it costs money just to register on their forums, I do not have an account.  But I want people to be reading these and be able to find the case that they're looking for.  So yeah, a seperate entry for each case now because that last one got kinda long and having to scroll through tons of pictures is annoying when your internet connection gets lazy.

...I really can't get any farther than this at the moment, since I can't get the emulator to load my save, and I am still currently cart-less and camera-less, although I am definitely getting a new camera soon, and hopefully either my borrowed-and-lost copy of T&T or a (preferably used) replacement.  Could just go ahead and get on with AJ (my favorite) once I get my camera, but then my LJ would look all out of order, and I don't really want that.

2/1/09: Update!  As of about a week ago, I own another copy of the game!  Oh man, commentating the real game feels so much more natural than with the rom!  But I think I'll get back to this sometime after finishing the game, as despite being a used copy, it had no data saved (I think the previous owner, if they played it at all, got a little bit into case 1 and then quit), so I'm stuck with slow text for this run.  But I am so glad to be playing this again!

Phoenix Wrigh: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations

All right, it's officially been long enough!  I really didn't want to take nearly this long, but it's hard to update a Let's Play when you don't have access to the game you want to play.  I let my friend borrow it and it's been lost for the past few months at least, and I will buy another copy if mine doesn't get found or replaced soon... however, that is not our only problem.  My camera broke a couple months ago and still has yet to be sent in for repairs (I've got cute snuggling kitties to photograph, too ;-; ).  So we are doing things a little... differently now.

Slow, but still living!

The screenshots seem to be fairly under control at the moment,   2-4 is finally nearly done; keep checking back because I still need to do the ending (the good, canon one), and then game 3 is next!  I really do love commenting on these games, you know... there's so much interesting stuff to say about the things that happen... but I just get really lazy when it comes to doing this in a way that I want to do, that people will have fun reading, assuming people actually read this (at least I know for sure one person does, and interestingly, that would be the author of the fanfic I linked to in 2-3).

So anyway, that's pretty much where we stand, and now back to our regularly scheduled... not exactly regular... Ace Attorney journal!

Public Service Announcement

It has come to my attention that my Ace Attorney screenshots have been sucking away readers' imaginations, and this is of great concern to me.  The readers see the screenshots and don't have to think about which scenes my comments refer to.  So in order to preserve human intellect, I have taken down every image.  Don't worry, though; if you've played the games, then you should be able to figure out which scenes I'm talking about.  You'll just have to use your imagination that every human needs to have.

But anyway, check out the uber awesomeness.  :D

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All part 2

Welcome to the final case of Phoenix Wright's second game adventure!  This is the longest and most emotional case in the game, and considered to be the best by pretty much everyone.  Like 1-3, it appears to be just another crazy Samurai case, which was great for 1-3, but doesn't seem right for a final case.  But as we will find out later, these things are not always what they seem.  You know the drill, lots of pics and possible trilogy spoilers.

7/6/08: Dang, I'm taking forever here!  I rented The World Ends With You a few weeks ago and finally returned it earlier.  Insanely awesome.  Right up there with the AA series on my list of favorite games!  It's so addictive and I want to own it T_T

It's awesome that I finally got back into this, but I'm letting a friend borrow Trials and Tribulations (finally, now that she has a working DS and doesn't have to use mine whenever I'm there), so that'll be a bit longer... but when I get it back, then I can play through it again... man, 3-5 was so epic, and I've only played it once several months ago... then on to Apollo Justice, which I'm really pretty excited about posting here!  Later, d00ds!

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All

We are at the second game in the series!  This one only has four cases, with no extra DS stuff like 1-5 had, but that's fine because 2-4 is the perfect kind of final case for a game, being the hardest emotionally in the whole trilogy.  Why?  Well, I can't say that now... you'll find out later.

Edit: Forgot the story of how I got the game.  Well, as you probably know, Capcom didn't expect Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney to get nearly as popular as it did, and we weren't expecting to get the sequels.  Fortunately, I hadn't spoiled myself (wasn't really interested, since I didn't think I'd get to play it anyway), because they eventually decided it was worth translating, and even gave us a preorder bonus with it, which was the Phoenix finger stylus (which I'd seen a picture of and decided I wanted it).  So I preordered the game, went to pick it up the day after the ship date (it was a Wednesday evening because we were on our way to church for dinner and youth group), and we got to Gamestop right exactly as they were opening the boxes.  I got my game, but had to come back the next day for the stylus because the only guy who knew where they were wasn't there at the time.  At least I got my game and stylus without too much trouble.  :)

REMEMBER, TRILOGY SPOILERS AND LOTS OF PICS!

2-2 seems to be sort of a hated case, and honestly, I've never figured out why.  Is it the whole spirit channeling thing being involved in court?  Because... obviously that can happen in this series, if it has characters who can actually channel spirits in the first place.  XD

Now, this next case, on the other hand... that's true annoyance.  I was stuck for a long time on one of the investigations, and some of the characters (Max and Regina... ESPECIALLY REGINA AND HER BOUNCING SPARKLINESS GRR) were annoying... wish me luck!

Collapse )

The investigations in this case seriously ticked me off the first time, but as I predicted, this time wasn't so bad because I remembered what to do and was then able to focus on having fun with the case.

Now, the next and final case in the game... everyone loves it.  Some people don't even like the first three cases, but still think the game is worth the money just for 2-4.  What is so great about 2-4?  Find out in the next update in maybe a couple hours or whenever!

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney part 2

A little behind schedule here... couldn't really get much playing it, thanks to tornadoes causing trouble and stuff like that... didn't want to get stuck with a dead battery if the power went out (and either way, I wouldn't be posting anything on the internet with no power).  But we fortunately kept our power, and the severe weather apparently has passed, so...

This one will have 1-4 and 1-5... I'm trying to keep this fairly organized and not too crowded; I posted a heck of a lot of screenshots just for the first three cases, and if I added these two cases, that post would get too gigantic.  @_@ So I've decided each final case will get its own entry because they're big and special.  Remember, POSSIBLE TRILOGY SPOILERS!  And LOTS OF PICS for those of you with slow connections!

Case 1-4, Turnabout Goodbyes, was actually the final case in the GBA version.  Rise from the Ashes was added for the DS version, and is the only case in the trilogy that really makes you use the features of the DS.  It also introduces Ema Skye, who later returns in Ace Attorney 4 (which of course also uses the DS's features, as it's the first game in the series made exclusively for the DS).

Collapse )

Hoo boy, this is gonna be a long journal... 1-5's up next, and it's probably the longest case in the trilogy... haven't played it in a while, so I don't really remember how long it is, but I'll have to try to resist posting a huge buttload of screenshots... we all know how well that's gonna work... @_@ But I'd better get on with it; I'm already behind schedule and should be starting 2-1 today.

And that concludes Phoenix Wright's first adventure!  It's a shame I got to have fun with some of the DS stuff that I'll be able to play with in the fourth game and now I don't get to for two more games... playing 1-5, actually, made me feel a little closer to the release of AJ.  But for now, we're going back to the GBA-type stuff... see you in game 2!

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

I changed my mind, I'm not gonna put everything in one entry. It'll get way too crowded way too fast. So each game will have its own entry, and  the original entry will be your stop for art, and once again, CUTS CONTAIN SPOILERS!  In fact, a cut for one case might on occasion contain a spoiler for a different case, so proceed at your own risk if you haven't yet beaten the trilogy!

...I think I should also add the stories of when I got each game.  It doesn't really make sense not to if they're interesting, right?  Right.  Back when this game was rare and expensive over here and I knew nothing of 2 and 3 which would both be Japan-only for a long time, one of my friends had it and I believe she was trying to get me into it as well.  Like many others, I had my suspicions about how fun a lawyer game could possibly be.  I decided to see what people had to say on Gamefaqs.  I had no idea what any of the topics were about, but they looked interesting, but what really got me was the gigantic funny quotes thread.  Obviously the game was in fact something I had to have.  Oh, and also, the first time I ever saw Phoenix was on that one Gant raep YTMND with Gant chasing Phoenix on the escalator.  XD So anyway, I found a cheap (around $50-$60... that was cheap at the time!) copy on eBay, and Dad ordered it for me on the condition that I work off the money.

So then the game came in the mail one day, and I was so excited, but I couldn't actually play it yet because I still owed the money, but my parents let me start it up to make sure it worked okay.  I started up 1-1, and unfortunately only got as far as Larry's drama at the beginning before I had to stop.  But I just loved Larry's sad puppy eyes and couldn't wait to play more!  I'm pretty sure this was the game that I thought I'd paid off by the time I did, but then found out about some crappy extra cost... probably shipping or something... that would take even longer, but I think I got out of that because I hadn't been informed of it before.  And then I finally got to enjoy the exciting courtroom hilarity!

Oh, and a warning to people with slow connections, there are lots of pics here!

Collapse )

Anyway, stay tuned for the next case!  I actually don't feel like replaying it again (I wanna get to 1-3 already), but posting screenshots and comments as I play is definitely fun... y'know, I feel kinda left out because other people are timing themselves, but I didn't think of that, and plus I take longer anyway due to the constant updates and screenshot-taking while I'm playing, and plus I get distracted easily... and plus I say "and plus" too much, but that's not important.  XD

Today, Phoenix's courtroom adventures continue as he and his new friend and assistant Maya Fey go after yet another murder mystery in...

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Countdown!

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP! DETECTIVE GUMSHOOOOOOOOOOOE!

(Huh, the counter says 21 days, but the game's already been out for 3 weeks... but I'm leaving the counter up anyway because it's pretty.  -3/13)

Achtung, baby! Any Ace Attorney fan knows February 20 will be a day to party, and by party, I mean be too busy playing Apollo Justice to do any actual partying for about the next couple weeks (except for the fact that the next day is my sister's birthday, of course). XD So we are counting down like it's 1999... again! And here is the schedule that SilverWind of Court-Records came up with:

Timeline
Feb 2: 1-1
Feb 3: 1-2
Feb 4: 1-3
Feb 5: 1-4
Feb 6: 1-5 PART 1
Feb 7: 1-5 PART 2
Feb 8: 2-1
Feb 9: 2-2
Feb 10: 2-3
Feb 11: 2-4 PART 1
Feb 12: 2-4 PART 2
Feb 13: 3-1
Feb 14: 3-2
Feb 15: 3-3
Feb 16: 3-4
Feb 17: 3-5 PART 1
Feb 18: 3-5 PART 2

I don't think I'll be exact (1-4 in one day? OBJECTION!), but that's roughly what I plan on going like. And I shall be updating with my thoughts and comments on each case, and I will keep editing this entry with said updates!  So stay tuned, fellow ace attorneys!  And be warned, THE CUTS WILL HAVE MEGA SPOILERS!
